Biography:
Cindy, a tremendous animal lover, was one of the first lawyers in the country to practice in Animal Law, providing a much-needed voice to animals in need. Related to this, she has taught Animal Law for several years at the FSU College of Law, where her co-authored article, "Dangerous Dog Law: Failing to Give Man's Best Friend a Fair Shake at Justice," was published in 2007 by the Michigan State University College of Law Animal Legal and Historical Center. This article has also been cited as an authority and used in animal law curricula throughout the U.S. Additionally, she has taught Business Law and Property Law for a number of years at Thomas University and the Tallahassee Community College.
Cindy is also a decorated Guardian ad Litem for the Second Judicial Circuit in Florida, having served for 16 years to protect the interests of children. Interestingly, Cindy served from inception as the Executive Director of the With Arms Wide Open Foundation, created by the rock group Creed, a position filled with great reward in regard to helping needy children, but also providing some intriguing stories such as the time she was backstage with the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Woodstock '99 while Creed performed.
Cindy joined the Mattox Law staff in 2018, largely due to her desire to become active in civil rights and plaintiffs' discriminatory and retaliatory labor law cases. Interestingly, Cindy has known Marie Mattox for 26 years, when she was selected as a juror for Ms. Mattox's very first Whistleblower and First Amendment Retaliation case (which Marie won). Cindy has two phenomenal adult daughters, Jade Elizabeth, who is currently traversing the outdoor wonders of the great state of Colorado with granddog "Waffles," and Jazlyn "Jazzy," recently admitted to the FSU School of Music, and Cindy's "mini me" who can often be found accompanying Cindy to depositions and hearings as a legal assistant.
